Sacramento Teacher Accused Of Hiding Missing Teen For 2 Years

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA – A Sacramento City Unified School District employee has been arrested on suspicion of hiding a missing teen for two years, authorities said.

61-year-old Holga Castillo Olivares, who is an employee at Alice Birney Waldorf-Inspired K-8 School, appeared in court Monday for the June 2020 disappearance of a 17-year-old, the Rancho Cordova Police Department wrote in a statement.

The teen, who was 15 years old at the time, went missing from his Rancho Cordova home on June 9, 2020, police said. On March 11, 2022, after two years of police efforts to locate the teen failed, he returned home.

After an investigation, Olivares was arrested for the Detention of a Minor with the Intent to Conceal from a Parent(s) and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, according to the department.

NBC affiliate KCRA reported that the teen's family said he was staying at a former friend's home for two years, and that Olivares was the mother of that friend.
