Stephon Clark Vigil: Deputy's SUV Hits Protester (Video)

SACRAMENTO, CA — New video posted on the internet shows a sheriff's deputy's car hitting a protester at a vigil for Stephon Clark.

The video posted on YouTube shows protesters blocking the streets on Saturday night chanting "No Justice!" and holding signs. At one point in the video, a woman holding a sign walks in front of a Sacramento County Sheriff's deputy's SUV.

The deputy appears to accelerate and plows into the woman, who frantically puts her hands on the hood of the SUV and appears to go airborne. What happens next isn't clear from video, but an individal can be heard yelling "Oh my god! Oh my god!"

The video then cuts off.

Guy Danilowitz, a legal observer who shot the video, told CNN the deputy then drove off.

"The vehicle accelerated and struck her, accelerated very fast and struck her violently and she fell to the ground," he said.

"It was a very fast acceleration, not the way you would move with people around," he added.

The vigil came a day after an independent autopsy of Clark's bullet-riddled body seemingly conflicted with the Sacramento Police Department's story of how Clark died. The legal team for Clark's family said the findings indicated Clark was shot eight times in the back and side. None of the bullets entered him from the front.

Two police officers responding to a report that someone was breaking car windows on March 18 opened fire on Clark as he hid in the backyard of his grandmother's home. Police said the officers thought he pointed a gun at them in a threatening manner. The officer's, fearing for their lives, fired off 20 rounds.

Investigators only recovered a cellphone at the scene.
