SACRAMENTO, CA — Thousands of runners turned out for the 30th Run to Feed the Hungry in Sacramento on Thanksgiving day. The 5K and 10K races raise money for Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services.

Participant Claus Weisemann, who provided the photo above, said there were so many participants in the 5K that runners started out at a slow shuffle until they could spread out a bit.

In Sacramento County, the food bank has seen an 89 percent increase in monthly services since 2019. Now, about 280,000 people seek food assistance every month.

Thank you for sharing your photo, Claus!
