1 Dead, 1 Wounded In Shooting In Chula Vista
One man was shot in the head, while the other man was shot in the face, police said.
CHULA VISTA, CA — One man was killed and another man was wounded in a shooting early Wednesday morning in southern San Diego County, authorities said.
The shooting was reported shortly after 1:30 a.m. at an apartment building in the 1300 Block of Calle Verona in Chula Vista, according to the Chula Vista Police Department.
A woman called police from her home at the Salerno Luxury Rentals complex and reported that her friend had been shot, Sgt. Anthony Molina said. Officers arrived and found a man outside the apartment who had been shot in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not released.

Inside the apartment, officers found a 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his face, Molina said. He was taken to a hospital.
The shooting remained under investigation.

"This is still an active investigation, with detectives continuing to gather evidence and speak with witnesses to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting," Molina said. "While details are limited at this time, initial indications suggest this was not a random attack."
