1 Traffic Fatality, 57 DUI Arrests in City of San Diego During Memorial Day Weekend
A single traffic fatality occurred in the San Diego area during the long Memorial Day weekend, the California Highway Patrol reported.

SAN DIEGO - A single traffic fatality occurred in the San Diego area during the long Memorial Day weekend, the California Highway Patrol reported Tuesday.
Over the 78-hour period beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, the CHP made 57 local DUI arrests — the same number as it did last year during the unofficial- start-of-summer holiday, according to the state agency.
Statewide, 45 people died in traffic crashes, six more than last year, and CHP officers arrested 921 motorists on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, 144 less than Memorial Day weekend 2016.
