11 Arrested During DUI Checkpoint In Pacific Beach

Authorities screened 1,014 vehicles and evaluated 21 drivers during the checkpoint, police said.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Eleven people were arrested during a DUI and driver's license checkpoint in Pacific Beach, police said.

The California Highway Patrol and San Diego Police Department conducted the checkpoint from 10 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday at 2400 Grand Ave. in San Diego.

Ten motorists were arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and one motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, according to the San Diego Police Department. Eleven vehicles were also impounded.

In total, 2,140 vehicles went through the checkpoint, police said. Authorities screened 1,014 vehicles and evaluated 21 drivers.

Funding for the checkpoint program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
