6-Year-Old Girl Dead In Crash That Killed 2, Injured 4: Oceanside Police

OCEANSIDE, CA — Two people died, including a 6-year-old girl, in a crash Tuesday night in Oceanside that left another four minors injured, according to police.

The incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m., when a southbound SUV struck a tree while traveling at a high rate of speed on Douglas Drive near Pala Road and repeatedly rolled over, police said.

The driver, a 30-year-old woman, and a 6-year-old girl were both ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, according to police. Four other passengers, including a 10-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl, a 14-year-old boy, and a 15-year-old boy, were extricated by emergency personnel, police said.

The 10-year-old and 14-year-old suffered critical injuries and were airlifted, according to police, while the 13-year-old and 15-year-old were transported to hospitals to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening. The 15-year-old has since been released, police said, noting identities are being withheld pending notification of family.

Douglas Drive was closed from El Camino Real to Old River Street, according to police, who said roads had fully reopened as of 1:40 a.m. Wednesday.
