2 Gravely Injured In Escondido House Fire
Paramedics took the victims to a hospital for treatment of severe burns and smoke inhalation.

ESCONDIDO, CA — Two people were gravely injured Tuesday in a fire that destroyed an Escondido home.
The blaze in the 400 block of West 11th Avenue erupted shortly before 5:30 p.m., Escondido Fire Department spokesman Jeff Murdock said.
Firefighters arrived to find the single-story house engulfed in flames, Murdock said. Informed that people might be trapped inside, firefighters entered and rescued the injured man and woman, Murdock said.

The cause of the fire, which left the home a "total loss," was under investigation, Murdock said.
