1 Seriously Hurt In 3-Vehicle Crash On I-15 In Scripps Ranch

A 19-year-old man suffered serious injuries and another man suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle crash on I-15 near SR-163.

SAN DIEGO — A 19-year-old man suffered serious injuries and another man suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 near state Route 163 in the Scripps Ranch area, authorities said Thursday.

The crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday on southbound I-15 near the transition ramp to southbound SR-163, California Highway Patrol Officer Jake Sanchez.

Details regarding how the crash happened were scarce, but the crash involved a 1999 Lexus sedan, a 2008 Nissan sedan and a 2020 Chevrolet SUV, Sanchez said.

Two passengers in the Lexus -- a 22-year-old man and a 19-year-old man -- were taken to hospitals following the crash, the officers said, adding that the younger man had major injuries and the older man had minor injuries.

None of the drivers were hurt in the crash, he said.

The wreck left damaged cars and debris spread across freeway lanes, causing authorities to shut down all southbound lanes from 10:10 p.m. to 10:35 p.m.
