And what is a bowl without a watch party? Support the puppers and other orphan pets at the Puppy Bowl XVIII Watch Party at McGregor’s Grill in Grantville, starting at 10 a.m. Sunday.

The Helen Woodward center has been a part of the festivities since 2019, with one center pup receiving screen time during the bowl each year.

But this year, the center will be in an even bigger spotlight, with three pups taking the field. Spangles and Firework are Chihuahua/Spaniel siblings born on July 4. Marcus is a Chihuahua blend with a playful spirit. They will play for either #TeamFluff or #TeamRuff.

In addition, three more center pups, Burrito, Beau, and Buttons, will share the screen with surprise besties Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg, celebrity Puppy Bowl hosts.

At the McGregor’s watch party, at 10475 San Diego Mission Road, 10% of all food and drink proceeds will support programs at Helen Woodward center. The event, held on the dog-friendly patio through 1 p.m., will offer canine-themed menu items, including a keepsake dish for visiting pups. Other center pups will be on-site, appropriately, in a tiny football stadium.

The Puppy Bowl XVIII airs on Animal Planet at 11 a.m. Sunday, with the pre-game show at 10 a.m. All of the puppies and kittens that have participated in past Puppy and Dog Bowls have been adopted.
