92-Year-Old Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Fatally Shooting Son

A 92-year-old man was jailed Thursday on suspicion of fatally shooting his 51-year-old son inside their Old Town San Diego home.

SAN DIEGO, CA - A 92-year-old man was behind bars Thursday on suspicion of fatally shooting his son inside their Old Town home, authorities reported.

A resident of the 2300 block of Juan Street made a 911 call shortly before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to report that a neighbor, later identified as Richard Landis Peck, was yelling for help, saying he had shot his son, according to San Diego police.

Patrol personnel went to the neighborhood and discovered Robert Peck, 51, dead in his home from an apparent gunshot wound, Lt. Matt Dobbs said.

Officers found the victim's father at a neighbor's house across the street and took him into custody.

As of Thursday afternoon, detectives were "still trying to determine what prompted the shooting," the lieutenant said.

Richard Peck was booked into San Diego Central jail on suspicion of first-degree murder. He was being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Friday afternoon.
