UPDATED: SD County Storm & Free Sandbags at Local Rec Centers

All council districts will have free sandbags, 9 locations available & Severe Thunder Strom Warning. UPDATE: 4:51 PM, 2/2/19

City of San Diego reports 9 recreation/sports centers are offering free empty sandbags to community members.

  5. Scripps Rec center
  6. North Clairemont Rec center
  7. Allied Gardens Rec center
  8. San Ysidro Rec center
  9. City Heights Rec center

Be Prepared, Weather Snapshot

San Diego advises you make a family plan, in case of emergency. Gusts approaching 41 miles were picked up on the National Weather Service Palomar Mountain station. A flood warning is in effect, for the river bed areas. NWS advises parts of Fashion Valley may flood, never drive into flood waters. NWS warns to secure loose objects, outside objects, as Gale Wind Warnings are also in affect. Radar indicates at approximately 3:30 PM - 4:00 PM the hardest rain of Saturday will come through the region starting near Oceanside, and increase in strength as it tampers in to the Inland Valleys and into the Mexican coast. Winds will decrease in speed starting around 5:00 PM tonight.

Multiple Alerts Issued

Severe T-Strom warning in effect from 3-4 PM. Heavy rain from 2-5 PM along coast. Flash flood warnings in affect through out urban areas in San Diego, rain can rise into larger puddles. Stay safe, if you can, stay home. Stay away from widows when winds accelerate.
