ESCONDIDO, CA — The San Diego Zoo Safari Park on Thursday launched a live camera feed of its elephant herd, giving viewers around the world a real-time look inside its newly opened Elephant Valley habitat.

Schools in more than 30 states received early access to the feed, offering students an opportunity to observe elephant behavior, learn about their role as ecosystem engineers and understand the dynamics of the herd's social structure.

The habitat is the largest project in the organization's 109-year history and was designed to bring guests closer to elephants while highlighting global conservation efforts to protect the species.

The herd featured on the camera includes martriach Swazi, along with Ndlulamitsi, Umngani, Qinisa, Phakamile, Khosi, Mkhaya and Umzula-Zuli

The live stream is available on the safari park's website, where visitors can also find information about visiting Elephant Valley in person.
