POWAY, CA — Authorities have released a sketch of a suspect accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in Poway.
The assault was reported around 6 p.m. Saturday near the 13400 block of Midland Road, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
The girl was with a friend at the time, who screamed for the man to stop, sheriff's officials said. The man then fled the scene on an electric scooter.
The sheriff's ASTREA helicopter, K-9 units and deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Detectives with the sheriff's Child Abuse Unit took over the investigation and canvassed the area.
The suspect was described as Latino, between 30 to 40 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build and complexion. He had black shaved hair with a receding hairline, bushy eyebrows, a large nose, acne scars and was unshaven. He was last seen wearing black sunglasses, a gray hooded sweatshirt and black shorts.
