SAN DIEGO, CA — The U.S. Coast Guard intercepted two suspected migrants near the entrance of Mission Bay in San Diego, officials said.
Watch standers at the Joint Harbor Operations Center detected a 30-foot cabin cruiser entering U.S. territorial waters around 3 p.m. Monday, according to the Coast Guard. A boarding team from Coast Guard Station San Diego launched a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium to intercept the vessel.
Officials said the interdiction was conducted without force. Both individuals aboard the boat claimed Mexican nationality and were transferred to U.S. Border Patrol custody.
