SAN DIEGO, CA — A passerby discovered an unconscious man lying face down in the sand and attempted to revive him before emergency crews arrived while walking along Black's Beach in San Diego, authorities said Sunday.
Officers, lifeguards and paramedics responded around 8 p.m. Friday to reports of a possible drowning at the beach below 2800 Torrey Pines Scenic Drive at Gliderport, according to the San Diego Police Department.
A bystander administered CPR until emergency responders arrived by land and boat. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene about 40 minutes later by medical officials from Scripps Memorial Hospital, a public information officer from the SDPD told City News Service.
Authorities have not yet identified the victim. California State Parks was handling the investigation, police said.
