RAMONA, CA — Firefighters stopped the forward spread of a brush fire that briefly threatened homes and forced the closure of a stretch of state Route 67 on Monday, authorities said.
The blaze, dubbed the Main 2 Fire, broke out near Main and Etcheverry streets, according to Cal Fire. By early afternoon, the fire had burned about seven acres and was threatening nearby structures.
Crews were able to halt the spread of the fire, and no structural damage or injuries were reported.
The fire prompted the closure of SR-67 in both directions between Dye Road and Hope Street, according to Caltrans.
Officials urged motorists and residents to avoid the area while firefighters continued working to extinguish the blaze.
