CARLSBAD, CA — Picklr will open its first San Diego County location in Carlsbad, expanding the indoor pickleball franchise's Southern California footprint, company officials said.

The new location is slated to open in late August at 5830 El Camino Real.

The 36,300-square-foot facility will include 10 courts, including a championship-sized court, along with a pro shop and private event space, according to the company. The club will use a high-performance court surface developed by Just Courts, which also supplies courts for the Professional Pickleball Association.

"Bringing a Picklr club to Carlsbad means our community will have access to the best-in-class indoor pickleball experience right here in our own backyard," owners Neil Capin and Chris Foote said in a joint statement. "We're proud to give Carlsbad and the greater North County a true home for pickleball, a place built around a player-first environment, all-inclusive memberships, and unmatched programming for every age and skill level"

Members will have access to unlimited open play, leagues, tournaments and instructional programs for adults and juniors. Memberships can also be used at other Picklr locations nationwide.

The company said the Carlsbad club is part of a broader national expansion that includes more than 500 planned locations and about 5,000 courts in the coming years.

Picklr currently has 10 clubs in California, including Southern California locations in Fountain Valley, Placentia and Rancho Santa Margarita.
