"Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by the earthquakes in Venezuela," Padres Chairman John Seidler said.

SAN DIEGO, CA — The San Diego Padres, through the Padres Foundation, have donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross' Venezuelan Earthquake Relief Fund following last week's deadly earthquakes in Venezuela.

The donation will support emergency relief efforts, including medical care, food, clean water, sanitation, shelter and other assistance for people affected by the disaster, according to the team.

Padres Chairman John Seidler said the organization wanted to support communities impacted by the earthquakes and encouraged fans to contribute to relief efforts.

"Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by the earthquakes in Venezuela," Seidler said in a statement. "We are privileged to be part of a community that extends well beyond this game through the shared language of baseball, and our community is in need. We offer our support to the American Red Cross' Earthquake Relief Fund as they provide immediate assistance to those most impacted by this tragedy, and we encourage our fans to join in the relief efforts."

The American Red Cross said the fund works with the International Federation of Red Cross and the Venezuelan Red Cross to provide aid to displaced families and survivors.

Fans interested in donating can learn more through the American Red Cross' Major League Baseball disaster relief campaign.
