CHULA VISTA, CA — A holiday attraction that has drawn millions of visitors to Gaylord Hotels nationwide is heading west for the first time.
Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center announced it will debut ice! featuring "A Charlie Brown Christmas" this holiday season at the the Chula Vista resort. The immersive attraction will be open Nov. 20 through Jan. 3 as part of the resort's inaugural Christmas celebration.
The walk-through exhibit will feature more than 2 million pounds of hand-carved ice sculptures depicting scenes from the classic Peanuts television special. Guests can explore 12 themed scenes, see sculptures of characters, including Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy and Linus, and ride two-story ice slides, including one designed for young children.
The attraction will be kept at 9 degrees Fahrenheit to preserve the ice sculptures, and guests will receive insulated parkas during their visit. Created by Gaylord Hotels in 2001, ice! has become an annual holiday attraction at several of the company's resorts nationwide.
The displays are crafted by more than 30 artisans from Harbin, China, using about 7,500 blocks of ice over approximately 40 days.
In addition to ice!, Christmas at Gaylord Pacific will feature Peanuts-themed character dining, ice tubing, scavenger hunts, holiday entertainment, Santa photo opportunities and seasonal shopping.
Tickets and overnight vacation packages are now on sale. Overnight guests will receive a Chill Pass, which provides expedited entry to the ice! attraction.
Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center, which opened in May 2025 on San Diego Bay in Chula Vista, includes 1,600 guest rooms, a 4.25-acre water park, multiple restaurants and convention space.
