San Diego School Receives Teachers' Lounge Makeover From Walmart, Crayola

SAN DIEGO, CA — Teachers at John Marshall Elementary School returned to a newly renovated teachers' lounge this week after Walmart and Crayola surprised the San Diego campus with a makeover as part of a national program recognizing educators.

Marshall Elementary was one of 24 schools nationwide selected for the makeover, which included a $3,000 Walmart.com eGift card from Crayola to purchase furniture and décor, $1,000 in Crayola art supplies, a $1,000 Walmart gift card and a $2,500 Walmart grant to support the school community.

Volunteers from the Walmart San Diego College Avenue Supercenter helped transform the space with new furnishings, décor and supplies intended to give teachers a place to recharge during the school day.

The makeover is part of the Walmart and Crayola Creative Teachers' Lounge Makeover Sweepstakes, now in its third year. The initiative supports schools across the country through surprise lounge renovations and classroom resources as part of Crayola Creativity Week, an annual program promoting creativity in education.

The surprise was unveiled Wednesday morning at the school, located at 3550 Altadena Ave. in San Diego.
