Wife Killed, Husband Critically Injured In Mira Mesa Shooting

SAN DIEGO, CA — A woman was killed and her husband was critically injured in a shooting Friday evening at a Mira Mesa home, authorities said.

Officers responded shortly before 7 p.m. Friday to reports of suspicious activity at a residence in the 10100 block of Summerview Court, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Officers found the woman and man inside the garage with apparent gunshot wounds. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Her husband suffered gunshot wounds to his upper torso and was taken to a local trauma center, where he remained in critical condition.

Police said the two were married and lived at the residence. Their identities were withheld pending family notification.

The department's Homicide Unit was investigating. Detectives were processing the scene and interviewing witnesses, family members and neighbors to determine what happened.
