SAN DIEGO, CA — Families can learn about everything from car seat safety to water safety while meeting local first responders and superheroes Saturday, Aug. 15, at a free San Diego event.
Family Safety Day: Hanging with Heroes will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside Dave & Buster's at 2931 Camino Del Rio North in Mission Valley.
The event, hosted by San Diego Moms, is expected to bring together more than 90 safety organizations and welcome more than 1,000 families, according to organizers.
Families can meet representatives from the San Diego Police Department, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, FBI, San Diego County Sheriff's Office, California Highway Patrol, and Drug Enforcement Administration. Emergency vehicles also will be on display.
Safety demonstrations and activities will include free car seat checks, information about severe allergic reactions, drug safety and naloxone demonstrations, child identification resources, dog safety and water safety lessons.
The event will have a kids' zone with inflatable jumpers, sensory play, games, basketball and kid-friendly activities for all ages. There will also be rescued reptiles, appearances by Spider-Man, Batman, Stitch and characters from "Paw Patrol."
