SAN DIEGO, CA — All northbound lanes of Interstate 5 and five lanes of northbound Interstate 805 will close overnight Monday for paving, Caltrans said.
The closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. Aug. 31 to 5 a.m. Sept. 1. The I-5 Local Bypass will remain open to northbound traffic.
The closures will affect northbound I-805 lanes 3 through 7. Drivers should expect delays and consider alternate routes, Caltrans said.
Residents and businesses near the work area should expect construction noise and lighting during the closure.
The closures are part of Caltrans' $113.7 million I-5 Asset Management Project, which is rehabilitating pavement along the main roadway, shoulders and freeway ramps along I-5 from Camino De La Plaza to just south of Via de la Valle.
The project covers portions of I-5 in San Diego, Chula Vista and National City and is intended to extend the life of the existing pavement and improve safety.
Construction schedules may change because of weather, traffic incidents or other factors, according to Caltrans.
