Theft Suspect Arrested, Another Sought After 60-Mile Pursuit In San Diego County (patch.com) β San Diego-area residents are being asked to help locate a theft suspect after a 60-mile pursuit that wound from rural East County to Pacific Beach. Deputies say two people were tied to a $50,000 trailer theft in Alpine, with one suspect arrested in Lakeside and a discarded firearm later recovered along the pursuit route.

Birch Aquarium Brings Back Fall Pier Walks, Tidepooling Adventures (patch.com) β Families in San Diego can look forward to Birch Aquarium's popular fall outdoor programs, including guided Sunset Scripps Pier Walks starting Sept. 19 and Tidepooling Adventures beginning Nov. 7. Led by aquarium educators in La Jolla, these 90-minute experiences highlight local marine life, responsible tidepool exploration, and rare access to the Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial Pier, with advance registration required.

5. San Diego cuts recreation center and library hours due to budget shortfall (cbs8.com) β San Diego is cutting hours at 13 recreation centers and six libraries starting tomorrow because of a $118 million budget shortfall, meaning fewer evening and weekend options for many neighborhoods. Some sites like North Clairemont Rec Center and University Heights Library will see especially noticeable reductions, while others such as North Park and Mira Mesa avoided cuts after City Council restorations.
