Woman Lying On Ground Hit By Car In Kearny Mesa Parking Lot

The driver felt the impact and backed up, then discovered the woman on the ground, police said.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A woman suffered serious injuries after she was struck by a car in a Kearny Mesa parking lot, authorities said.

The collision happened at about 10:45 p.m. Friday in a parking lot at 8081 Balboa Ave., according to the San Diego Police Department.

Police said a 26-year-old man had parked a 2014 Honda Accord in the lot and returned to the vehicle a short time later. As he began driving away, the car struck the woman, who was lying on the ground in front of the vehicle.

The driver felt the impact and backed up, then discovered the woman on the ground, police said.

The woman was taken to a hospital with fractures to her sacrum and humerus.

DUI was not determined to be a factor in the collision, police said.
