• Leslie's Pool Supplies To Close 3 San Diego County Stores Amid Bankruptcy (patch.com) — San Diego County residents who rely on Leslie's for pool and spa supplies will soon lose three local stores in Encinitas, Mira Mesa and Ramona as the company restructures in bankruptcy. While the Phoenix-based chain plans to close 76 locations nationwide and 26 in California, it says remaining stores and online operations will keep serving customers as it works to slash debt and emerge stronger in 2027.
• Trump Suggests Letting Iran 'Take Out Los Angeles, San Diego,' Stirring Local Outrage (patch.com) — San Diegans are reacting sharply after President Donald Trump suggested Iran could "take out" Los Angeles or San Diego as a "small price to pay" in the ongoing war, comments made at a Nebraska rally. Local leaders including Mayor Todd Gloria and congressional candidates Jim Desmond and Marni von Wilpert condemned the remarks as dangerous, stressing that San Diego is not expendable or collateral damage.
• California animal officers brave cactus needles to free dog covered head to toe in thorns (thecooldown.com) — San Diego County Animal Services officers recently waded into a dense cactus patch in Bonita to rescue a dog found covered in spines and apparently without food or water for days. The dog is now recovering at the South County Animal Shelter with ongoing veterinary care, and officials say he remained gentle and cooperative throughout the painful treatment.
