POWAY, CA — A person died and another suffered severe injuries Thursday in a head-on collision between two pickup trucks on state Route 67 near Iron Mountain, authorities reported.
The deadly crash took place shortly after 6 a.m. just north of Poway Road in Poway, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
An occupant of one of the trucks died at the scene of the wreck, Sgt. Saleem Payman said. Paramedics took another to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The accident forced a closure of SR-67 from the site of the crash to Archie Moore Road in Ramona.
The circumstances of the crash were under investigation.
"Deputies have obtained video footage which will be used to assist with finding out the cause of the collision," Payman said.
