SAN DIEGO, CA — All six San Diego County public health centers and seven medical therapy units will be closed Monday, Oct. 19, as the county transitions to a new electronic health records system.
All locations are expected to reopen Tuesday, Oct. 20, county officials said.
The upgrade will replace paper records with digital records, improve efficiency and reduce errors, according to the county. Staff members have been training for the transition since July.
The county's public health centers provide services to residents with limited access to health care, including vaccinations and testing and treatment for tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases.
The medical therapy units provide physical and occupational therapy to children with qualifying medical conditions.
During the last fiscal year, the county provided sexual health services to nearly 2,300 people, tuberculosis treatment to 1,700 people and medical therapy to more than 1,600 children and young adults with physical disabilities.
No appointments will be scheduled for Oct. 19.
