SAN DIEGO, CA — A man was arrested on a dozen felony charges in connection with a child sexual abuse investigation involving an in-home daycare center in San Diego, authorities said.
Abhishek Sareen, 35, was arrested Monday evening after investigators learned he had regular access to children at Lotus Learners Montessori School, an in-home daycare serving children ages 2 to 5 in the 14100 block of Korrey Drive, according to the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Investigators said Sareen lived at the home where the daycare operated. It was unclear how many children he may have had contact with.
The investigation began Monday after the task force received online tips about suspected child sexual abuse material. Detectives worked through the night, served search warrants, searched the property and arrested Sareen that evening, authorities said.
No children were present during the arrest.
Investigators have identified at least three potential victims. Two have been identified, and their families have been notified. Authorities are still working to identify the third child and determine whether there are additional victims.
Sareen was booked into San Diego Central Jail on 12 felony charges related to child sexual abuse and possession of child sexual abuse material. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
Authorities said they are working to contact the families of all children enrolled at the center.
The California Department of Social Services' Community Care Licensing Division was notified of the investigation and will determine whether the daycare can remain open.
The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force at 858-495-4779 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
