The collision occurred at 6:16 p.m. Thursday at Mission Bay Drive and Rosewood Street, according to San Diego Police Department Officer Jose Perales.
Both vehicles were headed northbound on Mission Bay Drive when the 71- year-old SUV driver changed lanes to turn right onto Rosewood Street and collided with the motorcycle, knocking the rider off and causing him to slide into a concrete wall, Perales said.
The motorcyclist suffered a collapsed lung, injured spleen, kidney contusion and fractures to his rib, spine, femur and shoulder, Perales said. The injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
The motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
