SAN DIEGO, CA — A new Mexican-inspired restaurant from the founder of City Tacos will open Monday at Liberty Station in Point Loma.
El Punto will feature indoor and outdoor dining, a children's play area and an enclosed off-leash dog park. The 8,800-square-foot restaurant will initially serve dinner from 4 to 10 p.m. daily, with brunch and lunch service expected to follow in the coming weeks.
The restaurant is the latest venture from Gerry Torres, who also founded City Tacos in 2014 in North Park, Fonda del Barrio in 2025 in Barrio Logan and Tour de Tapas in 2024 in La Mesa.
El Punto's menu, created by Executive Chef Eduardo Baeza, will feature Mexican-inspired dishes, including tuna tiradito, shrimp aguachile, pork tenderloin in chile Colorado sauce, roasted cauliflower and crab ceviche tostadas. Select tacos from the City Tacos menu will also be available.
The restaurant will feature a container bar and a michelada bar station, offering cocktails created by Bar Director Rudy Corona, along with draft beer and coffee. Diners can order through servers, QR codes at tables or a walk-up counter.
The restaurant features covered patio seating, outdoor televisions, a children's play area with games and a separate enclosed dog park where dogs can play off-leash.
"It's such a tremendous gathering place that all San Diegans can enjoy — with free parking to boot," Torres said. "We believe we are providing a dining option that is decadent, but affordable and casual. There is something on the menu for everyone, including several healthy options."
El Punto, located at 2885 Perry Road, will be open seven days a week.
