Apple To Open Campus In San Diego
Apple has plans to create 20,000 jobs in the U.S., including 1,000 new jobs in San Diego, over the next five years.

SAN DIEGO, CA – Apple is coming to San Diego. The company has plans to create 20,000 jobs in the United States, including 1,000 new jobs in San Diego, over the next five years.
Apple announced Thursday it will invest $1 billion to build a new campus in Austin, Texas. The city is already home to one Apple campus, which is the company's largest outside its headquarters in Cupertino, California.
In addition, Apple plans to build new campuses in San Diego, Seattle and Culver City over the next three years. Each site will be home to more than 1,000 employees.

Apple also plans to add hundreds of new jobs to its existing operations in cities across the country, including Boston, Boulder, New York, Pittsburgh and Portland.
"Apple is proud to bring new investment, jobs and opportunity to cities across the United States and to significantly deepen our quarter-century partnership with the city and people of Austin," Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement. "Talent, creativity and tomorrow's breakthrough ideas aren't limited by region or zip code, and, with this new expansion, we're redoubling our commitment to cultivating the high-tech sector and workforce nationwide."

Apple currently employs 90,000 people in all 50 states. With its latest plans, the company said it is on track to create 20,000 jobs in the country by 2023.
"Joining an influx of other large tech firms like Amazon, Google and Teradata, Apple is setting up a significant operation in San Diego to take advantage of the region's STEM talent," Mark Cafferty, president and CEO of San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation, said in a statement. "We look forward to building a stronger working relationship with Apple to help them grow and succeed in this already thriving tech hub."
