Arson Suspected In Three Rubbish Fires

Three suspected arson fires were set in a three-mile radius over the weekend in the Ocean Beach and Point Loma areas, fire officials said.

SAN DIEGO — Three suspected arson fires were set in a three-mile radius Saturday in the Ocean Beach and Point Loma areas, fire officials said.

The first fire was set about 1 a.m. on Muir Avenue in Ocean Beach. Additional fires were reported on Piedmont Drive and Catalina Place in Point Loma, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

The similarities and proximity of the fires prompted fire investigators to believe they were set by an arsonist. No arrests have been made and no structures were damaged.
