Authorities Seek Help To Identify Man Fatally Struck On I-805

The man was struck by a vehicle while trying to run across I-805 near I-8 in Mission Valley, authorities said. He later died at a hospital.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Authorities on Monday asked for the public's help to identify a man who was fatally struck by a vehicle while trying to run across Interstate 805 in San Diego.

The man was hit Jan. 12 on I-805 near I-8 in Mission Valley, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office. He died Jan. 18 at a hospital.

"No identification or personal property was found by medical crews who took him to the hospital," said county public information officer Chuck Westerheide. "An artist sketch of the man was made of the man and a tattoo on his arm."

A fingerprint search through the FBI, state and local agencies did not result in a match.

Investigators said the man appeared to be in his early 20s. He was white, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and 135 pounds with short brown hair and brown eyes. He was unshaven at the time of his death.

Anyone who recognizes the man was asked to call the Medical Examiner's Office at 858-694-2905 and reference case No. 2022-00253.
