Autopsy: Woman Found Dead In Bonita Was Slain By Gunfire

An unidentified woman found dead this week near Sweetwater Summit Regional Park was slain by gunfire, authorities reported.

SAN DIEGO, CA — An unidentified woman found dead this week near Sweetwater Summit Regional Park was slain by gunfire, authorities reported Thursday.

A patrol deputy found the victim's body near a cul-de-sac at the terminus of Quarry Road in Bonita about 3 a.m. Tuesday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

An autopsy determined that the woman died of gunshot wounds, and her death was ruled a homicide, Lt. Thomas Seiver said.

"The (sheriff's) Homicide Unit and the (county) Medical Examiner's Office are continuing to attempt to identify the woman," the lieutenant said Thursday afternoon.
