Baby Found In Trash Can In San Diego

BREAKING: The 5-month-old was taken to Rady Children's Hospital​.

SAN DIEGO, CA – A baby was rushed to a hospital after being found in a trash can in San Diego, authorities said.

The 5-month-old was found in a household wastebasket at a Skyline-area home. The medical emergency was reported shortly before noon in the 800 block of Cardiff Street, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The infant, who was not breathing, was taken to Rady Children's Hospital. The baby's condition is unknown at this time.

An investigation is underway. Initial evidence indicates the baby may have crawled or fallen into the plastic-lined trash can while unsupervised, San Diego police Officer Tony Martinez said.
