SAN DIEGO, CA — Best Western San Diego Zoo/SeaWorld Inn & Suites celebrated its grand reopening Thursday after completing more than $2 million in renovations.

The hotel on Hotel Circle Place features 199 guest rooms, including 68 suites, and is managed by Azul Hospitality Group, a San Diego-based hospitality management platform.

General manager Andrew Cooper told Patch that he and other staff members are excited to welcome guests to see the hotel's "fresh, more modern look."

"We are happy to welcome all guests, whether they are traveling for business or pleasure or both," said Cooper, who has served as manager for three years. "Whether our guests are traveling individually, with someone else, or their family and friends, they will have a positive and memorable experience staying with us."

Located five miles from San Diego International Airport, Best Western San Diego Zoo/SeaWorld Inn & Suites originally opened in 1970. The renovation started at the beginning of January and was completed by the end of March.

The updates include new carpets and furnishing, refreshed guest room curtains and bedding, refinished tubs and granite vanities, and updated radio-frequency identification (RFID) locks for each room. Each room has a large flat-screen television and mini fridge, suites include a microwave, and family rooms feature bunk beds.

Public areas have also been refreshed with upgraded furniture.

"The change in color scheme to grays and deep blues against a backdrop of earthy tones is an exciting and appealing part of the renovation as well as an upgrade of the seating areas in the lobby and breakfast room," Cooper said.

The hotel has a new fitness center and new lobby coffee station. Guests can also enjoy a 24-hour pantry, heated outdoor pool and sauna, business center, laundry facilities, and complimentary hot breakfast.

"The addition of a fitness center with modern equipment, medicine balls and yoga mats is something guests can now enjoy," Cooper said. "We have also added seating and enhanced furniture on the landings of guest room corridors. Two EV charging stations were installed in our parking garage for guest use, which we did not have previously."

The hotel is owned by Dr. Barry Lall, president and CEO of Pinnacle Hotels USA. Headquartered in San Diego, Pinnacle Hotels USA currently operates nine hotels in California, Ohio and Texas.
