Wrapped Body Found Near Road In Northern San Diego County

SAN DIEGO, CA — Authorities were investigating the death of a person whose body was found Thursday in northern San Diego County.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department received a report of a body found around 7 a.m. off the roadway near the 8000 block of Harmony Grove Road in unincorporated San Marcos. Responding deputies found a "body wrapped in an unknown material," sheriff's Lt. Chris Steffen said.

Little information was available regarding the circumstances of the death.

"The sheriff's Homicide Unit responded and has assumed responsibility of the investigation," Steffen said. "The circumstances of this incident are still under investigation."

Harmony Grove Road was closed until further notice.
