Body Found Washed Up On San Diego Beach

A body was found by the U.S. Coast Guard on Monday morning in the Sunset Cliffs area, San Diego authorities said.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A body washed up on the beach at Sunset Cliffs on Monday morning, authorities said.

The San Diego Lifeguard Service received a call about a body in the water at 5:50 a.m. but wasn't able to find it. Lifeguards searched the area for about 30 minutes before the U.S. Coast Guard took over, José Ysea, a San Diego public information officer confirmed to Patch.

U.S. Coast Guard personnel found the body on the shore just before 8 a.m., Ysea said. The person has not yet been publicly identified.

The San Diego Police Department is investigating the incident, which was reported at Sunset Cliffs, an affluent neighborhood nestled in the Point Loma area of San Diego.

No other information was immediately available.
