Border Patrol Finds 244 Pounds Of Pot In San Diego's East County
Agents found the marijuana in five burlap bundles modified with backpack-style straps on Christmas Eve, according to the Border Patrol.
SAN DIEGO — Border Patrol agents discovered nearly 250 pounds of marijuana left by drug smugglers in the community of Boulevard in San Diego's East County, a Border Patrol spokesman said Thursday.
The agents found 244 pounds of marijuana in five burlap bundles modified with backpack-style straps about 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve, according to Border Patrol agent Jarrett Decker. The smugglers remained at large.
Agents turned over the drugs, which were valued at $97,600, to the Drug Enforcement Administration, Decker said.
