Leadership experience

Bateman served over 20 years at industrial real estate investment firm Westcore and worked his way up from an associate acquisitions manager to the COO position before retiring. He continues to be an investor in Westcore.

Bateman also continues to work as a professor at University of San Diego’s Knauss School of Business, where he has taught strategic asset management for four years.

In addition to Westcore, Bateman previously worked as director for multifamily operations at ColRich and as an office and industrial broker at Grubb & Ellis.

Elevating Brixton Capital

“Through my chairman roles at both Westcore and Brixton Capital, I have known Matthew for decades and came to highly respect his skills, commitment and passion for sharing his knowledge with others,” says Brixton Founder and Chairman Marc Brutten. “I know our resident ‘professor’ will help us carefully consider Brixton’s operations and growth strategies.”

Bateman’s experience scaling both Westcore and ColRich is directly applicable to Brixton’s trajectory. After completing nearly $1 billion in transaction velocity across its investment platform last year, Brixton Capital is positioned to deploy approximately $1.25 billion of buying power going forward.

To further support its investment plans, the firm launched two Brixton-sponsored High Net Worth Funds last year.
