Church Fire Burns 5 Acres Near Golden Acorn Casino In Campo
The blaze broke out off Church Road and Old Highway 80, according to Cal Fire.

CAMPO, CA – Firefighters battled a brush fire Monday afternoon near Golden Acorn Casino in Campo.
The five-acre blaze broke out about 2:50 p.m. off Church Road and Old Highway 80, according to Cal Fire. Within an hour, the flames had burned about five acres and prompted one person to evacuate the area as a precaution, the state agency reported.
Air and ground crews worked to extinguish the blaze, called the Church Fire. At least one structure was threatened by the flames, according to Cal Fire.

By 4:30 p.m., crews had stopped forward progress of the fire, which was 0 percent contained. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
Last week, a wildfire burned 265 acres in Campo. One firefighter suffered a minor injury while battling the blaze.
