SAN DIEGO, CA — Crews quickly contained a brush fire that prompted a freeway closure Tuesday in northern San Diego County.

The blaze, called the Windsong Fire, sparked just west of Interstate 15 in the Deer Springs area, north of Escondido, according to Cal Fire. Crews contained the fire to just under an acre, but "air assets had to disengage for a short time" due to a drone reported in the area.

"Please refrain from flying any drones near a fire area," Cal Fire officials said on social media. "Not only is it extremely dangerous, it is also illegal."
