Crews Halt Brush Fire In Valley Center

The blaze sparked off Couser Canyon and Lilac roads, east of I-15 in Valley Center, according to Cal Fire.

VALLEY CENTER, CA — Crews halted a brush fire that was threatening at least one structure Tuesday afternoon in northern San Diego County.

The blaze sparked off Couser Canyon and Lilac roads, east of Interstate 15 in Valley Center, according to Cal Fire. By 2:45 p.m., the fire was stopped at 3 acres.

"Structures are no longer threatened," Cal Fire officials said on Twitter. "Crews will remain at scene for the next couple hours for mop up and control line strengthening."

Couser Canyon Road was closed from Pala Loma Drive to Lilac Road due to the fire, according to the county's Department of Public Works.
