HomeAid San Diego, a nonprofit organization working to provide services to mitigate the homelessness crisis in San Diego County, will host its 7th Annual STEP UP! Walk to End Homelessness on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at De Anza Cove in Mission Bay Park (3000 N. Mission Bay Dr., San Diego, CA 92109).

The family-friendly 5K walk will feature music, food, activities for all ages and remarks from community leaders. Participants are encouraged to join as individuals or teams — including families, companies and community groups — to raise funds and awareness for the housing crisis in San Diego.

“Community involvement and our local Board’s commitment are at the heart of this event,” said Jamie Prevost, board president of HomeAid San Diego and principal at Skyline Construction. “As a builder captain for HomeAid San Diego, I’ve seen how the organization’s projects directly change lives.”

Returning as presenting sponsor, AvalonBay Communities continues its support for HomeAid San Diego’s mission. “AvalonBay is honored to once again sponsor this important event,” said an AvalonBay representative. “We believe strong communities begin with safe, dignified housing.”

Funds raised through the event support HomeAid San Diego’s three pillars of impact:

  • Housing and Shelter Projects – building and renovating housing in partnership with local nonprofits
  • Community Engagement – Care Days, hygiene kit drives and move-in support
  • WORKS Construction Training – hands-on job training and career pathways in the skilled trades
