barleymash is inviting fans to fire up their grill for the chance to showcase their very own burger creation with Executive Chef Kevin Templeton! Home-cooks, burger enthusiasts, and everyone in between can participate in the barleymash Burger Brawl to show that they’ve got what it takes to create a mouth-watering, delicious burger.

Between Sunday, May 10 - Sunday, May 31, contestants can whip up their best burger creation on social media, and tag @barleymashsd on IG or TikTok. Cook it. Post it. Tag It. Win Big. Must be 21+ if your recipe is to include alcohol. Chef Kevin will then review all submissions, and select one winner to visit barleymash for a content shoot, where they will work together to create the winning burger. That burger will then be added to barleymash’s menu as a monthly special!

The winner will also receive a month’s worth of FREE burgers from barleymash.

Lumi Rooftop’s Endless Tuna Experience takes place on Thursday, May 28, 2026, as a two-hour rooftop culinary event centered on premium bluefin tuna, live chef demonstrations, and nonstop sushi service. Guests will watch a live carving of a 100-150 lb bluefin tuna by Lumi’s master chefs, then enjoy an unlimited flow of freshly prepared sushi and nigiri, including otoro, chutoro, akami, and specialty cuts. The experience also includes sake tastings, curated cocktails, dessert offerings, and an optional beverage upgrade for unlimited drinks such as sake, Sapporo, and Nikkei Nectar cocktails, all set against rooftop skyline views with an energetic DJ atmosphere. Tickets are priced at $100 per person, which includes the two-hour unlimited sushi experience, with a $25 optional beverage package. Advance booking is required due to limited availability.

A Hip Hop takeover is coming to the North City district in San Marcos on Friday, May 29 as the “Dancing in the Street” series returns, bringing a free outdoor dance night held alongside the popular weekly Farmers Market.&nbsp;

This month’s dance style is Hip Hop Fitness, featuring a high-energy night of street-style movement led by the professional dancers of Bella Lux Entertainment.

The evening begins with a special Hip Hop performance from 6:00 to 6:15pm, setting the tone before the crowd is invited to learn the moves themselves during a guided dance class from 6:15 to 7:15pm. The night wraps up with open dancing and a live DJ from 7:15pm to 8pm.&nbsp;
