Join leading Deaf culture scholars and UCSD professors Carol Padden and Tom Humphries for an illuminating talk on the history of Deaf people in the United States. What are the issues that have historically defined Deaf culture and peoples? What are some of the matters in culture, education, politics, and the arts that animate contemporary Deaf lives? How have Deaf people countered prejudice and the historic social oppression directed at them by the hearing world. Simultaneous interpretation in ASL and English provided. An America 250 program.
