Children's Discovery Museum Celebrates Healthcare Heroes Exhibit

The interactive and educational exhibit will be in place at San Diego Children's Discovery Museum through November.

ESCONDIDO, CA — San Diego Children's Discovery Museum celebrated the grand opening of its "Healthcare Heroes" Exhibit this week.

The interactive and educational exhibit honors Palomar Health's health care workers and their efforts to keep community members safe throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Sponsored by Palomar Health, exhibit is located in the Escondido museum's "Our Town: Careers and Community" space.

According to San Diego Children's Discovery Museum, the exhibit provides experiences that "demystify and calm fears around health care for children" and introduces them to different medical professions.

"We wanted to create an exhibit in partnership with Palomar Health that would both be fun and educational for families," said Krishna Kabra, CEO of San Diego Children's Discovery Museum. "Through STEM fluencies, such as spatial reasoning and symbolic language, children will walk away with real life skills and feel empowered to make important decisions about their body during their next visit to the doctor."

The exhibit features interactive displays with real medical tools, weekly onsite educational programming, online videos, special speaker events and more. It will be in place at the museum through November and will then find permanent residence in the pediatric ward of Palomar Health's new hospital.
