This San Diego-Area City Ranks Among Safest In CA For 2026

SafeWise released its 2026 Safest Cities report. One city in San Diego County ranked on the list.

SAN DIEGO, CA — One San Diego area city ranks among the top 10 safest cities in California, according to a new report from Safewise.

SafeWise, a security product review platform, looked at FBI crime statistics for cities to compile its 12th annual Safest Cities report.

Poway ranked as the safest city in the San Diego region and the seventh safest city in the Golden State. The city has a violent crime rate of 1.4 and a property crime rate of 6.0 incidents per 1,000 people, according to the report. The city has a population of 47,808.

"When it comes to safety, daily concern continues to be the California state of mind, based on our latest State of Safety survey," the report said. "From those we surveyed, 58% of Californians feel a high daily level of concern for their safety. Although that's down from 64% the previous year, it's the fifth-highest level of concern nationwide."
